Hey, I'm Erin! I started working regularly on pottery in 2015, when stay-at-home mom life left me itching for a creative outlet (outside of creating babies... and milk). I bounce back and forth between wheel work and hand-building, but my absolute favorite thing to make (and use) is jewelry. I mean, how fun is it to walk around wearing little pottery pieces? They're like tiny ear mugs. So fun.
I work part of the time in a little studio in my garage, and part of the time out of a shared studio in Athens, called Good Dirt. My set-up allows me to spend days with my daughter at home, while working on hand-building projects, and usually once a week, I head to the shared studio to use the wheel and glaze (and to spend time with a beautiful and inspiring community of potters). When I am not covered in clay dust, you can find me exploring nature trails with my kids, reading cookbooks, and well... probably doing laundry. |
What's up with your business name?
For the first few years, I called my business, Erin Hacker Ceramics. Real creative, right? At that time, I took the majority of my product photos on a blue side table (okay, it is teal, but definitely more blue than green) in front of my little brick home. They weren't great photos, just simple documentation of the creative outlet that delighted me so much in the crazy early days of motherhood. That brick background and blue table remind me of the simple joy of creating. Back then, I sucked at pottery, honestly. I would occasionally have full days of throwing pots with nothing to show, and each rare piece that made it though the glaze kiln just as I had pictured it, and into my hands brought me such excitement. So the name brick+blue reminds me of those simple early days. It reminds me that even though I can now produce higher quality work with greater consistency, that each piece is an exciting expression of my creative time and energy. It reminds me that no matter how much my business evolves, it was born of the joy of having a piece to snap a photo of on that brick and blue background.

WHERE CAN I BUY YOUR WORK?
Check out my Shop In Person page to find shops that carry my work and to learn about upcoming Pop-Ups and Events. Check out my Shop Online page to purchase ready to ship items. Interested in becoming a stockist? Send me an e-mail!
DO YOU OFFER WHOLESALE?
Sure do! Send me an e-mail at [email protected] to get information on wholesale.
WHAT METALS DO YOU USE FOR JEWELRY?
The majority of my earring posts are stainless steel. I made the switch to stainless steel from a generic nickel-free posts in December of 2019. Some older styles still contain the older nickel-free posts, and will be marked as so in their descriptions.
Gold metals are nickel-free.
Some pieces have NiChrome metal inserted into the clay. This is the only metal I use that contains nickel. Most of these pieces do not come directly in contact with skin, but if you have a severe allergy to nickel, you may not want to choose these pieces.
DO YOU ACCEPT RETURNS?
Due to the difficulty of shipping larger ceramic work, I do not accept returns on functional ceramics (mugs etc.). I have never had a piece arrive at its new home damaged in any way, but if this happens, please contact me via email, and I will work to make it right!
I accept returns of unworn jewelry within 14 days of purchase. Please contact me immediately if there is an issue. I take pride in handcrafting each piece with love, and I want you to love your purchase.
